For the first time since the 90s, BMW will return and take part in the DTM series once again. To do that, BMW has revealed their M3 DTM Concept Car for the 2012 DTM season series. This may not be the final design, but it will be awfully close.

Behind the wheel will be Andy Priaulx and Augusto Farfus. This M3 DTM comes with a 4.0 liter V8 engine with an air restrictor. The air restrictor allows the M3 DTM to stay within DTM regulations while being at approximately 480bhp.

Hundreds of goers stop by to leave pictures, cards, candles and flowers in his memory. Recently the site has been vandalized by someone that may be a bad speller.

The guard rail adorned with messages written fans and family was spray painted over with the words “Ritch Prick.” Yes, “Ritch.” So there are no suspects, police say it would be impossible to narrow down when or who vandalized the guard rail as there are numerous visitors every hour.

Rumors of his death started to spread early Monday morning until Bam Margera’s mother, April, called into a local radio show to confirm the tragic accident. The photo to the left was taken just hours before the accident. Dunn was reportedly at Barnaby’s of America in West Chester, PA hanging out with friends and drinking. There are currently conflicting reports regarding whether he was too drunk or not.

According to the police report Dunn and an unidentified passenger were killed in the crash on Route 322 around 2:30am Eastern Time. Dunn was at the wheel and identified by his tattoos. The police Press Release states that the accident occurred in Dunn’s 2007 Porsche 911 GT3, a high speed performance car. Dunn’s Porsche reportedly ran through a metal guard rail, where it went off road and became uncontrollable, it went past 40 yards of trees before finally hitting one tree where it exploded into flames upon collision.

Update: Ryan Dunn’s unidentified passenger has been identified as Zachary Hartwell, a former production assistant for the JackAss movies and friend of Dunn. After reconstructing the accident, Police Officials estimate Dunn was driving over 130mph at the time of the accident. According to the coroner, both victims died a violent death. West Goshen Police also tell the Daily Local News that Dunn’s blood alcohol level was .196, almost two and a half times the legal limit of .08 but no other substances were found in his blood. Toxicology reports are estimated to be completed in 4-6 weeks.

Sportec was able to squeeze out a whopping 858 horsepower from the 3.6 liter twin-turbo boxer engine. Power is sent to all four wheels; the car rockets from standstill to 62 mph in 3 seconds and goes on to 124 mph (200 km/h) in under 8 seconds and after another 10 seconds it has already reached 186 mph (300 km/h). The high speed journey comes to an end at 236 mph (380 km/h).

The massive horsepower gain comes courtesy of new hybrid turbocharges with a high performance intercooler, a smooth flow air inlet and a carbon fiber ram air induction system, a new exhaust system, titanium connecting rods, and continuous camshaft phasing. To put the power to the ground effectively, a new high performance clutch and a limited slip differential was added.

Visually, the Sportec SPR1 FL Porsche 911 Turbo doesn’t look too different, a new more aerodynamic rear bumper is added with LED taillights and bigger more aerodynamic mirrors are also installed.

All of that—without the carbon-fiber air-filter gimmick but with unique bodywork—now comes in the Carrera GTS. Output is 408 hp, versus the 385 hp of the Carrera S. Maximum torque remains 310 lb-ft. Top speed for both coupe and convertible versions is 190 mph. With the Sport Chrono Plus package and PDK on board, Porsche says 0 to 60 mph should take four seconds flat. Based on our previous testing, that is likely a very conservative guess.

Combining stylistic elements from Porsche’s parts bin helps create a model more unique than a Carrera S with the power pack. Like the GT3 RS and Sport Classic, the GTS is rear-drive but uses the body of an all-wheel-drive 911, which is 1.7 inches wider. Black 19-inch RS Spyder wheels with a single, central lug nut are standard, and the rear rubber is a steamrolling 305 mm wide. The front end wears a specific, GT3-like air intake, and there is GTS script on the doors and trunklid. The panel between the dual exhaust pipes is painted black, a styling element that reminds of the mid-engine Carrera GT.

The interior is specific to the GTS, too. Porsche uses high-grip Alcantara for the seat inserts, shifter and hand-brake levers, and the steering-wheel wrap. The premium over the Carrera S is less than the cost of the power pack, or just about 12 grand. That puts the GTS’s sticker at $103,110 for a coupe or $112,900 for a convertible. At that point, though, we’d be tempted to check out the purest 911 of them all, the $113,150 GT3.

This ain’t your average tree hugger hybrid!!! Take a look at Porsche’s 918 RSR, which just rolled onto the company’s stage at the 2011 North American International Auto Show. It has a 563hp traditional gasoline engine mounted amidships, with a pair of electric motors powering the front wheels that bring the total power up to a whopping 767. The electric motors are not powered by a set of batteries, as in a traditional hybrid, rather they take their power from an inertial flywheel mounted where the passenger seat would be on a road car and spinning at up to 36,000rpm. That’s spun up by momentum when the car brakes and, when the driver hits a button, that momentum is converted to give an acceleratory boost.

That’s the same setup as the 911 GT3 RSR Hybrid, which ran reasonably successful last year. Its styling is obviously an extension of the 918 Spyder, with a number of cues taken from the incredibly successful Porsche 917 racer of the early ’70′s. At this point Porsche hasn’t indicated when this car will make its debut on the track, nor in which classes it will run, but one thing’s for clear: this isn’t for the road. So, we’re a bit disappointed we still haven’t any firm details on a production, street 918 — not that we could afford it anyway.

What makes the difference between a standard Cayman and the R version? First the engine. The Cayman R is powered by a tuned-up 3.4-liter six-cylinder engine that develops 330 HP. The the sprint from 0 to 60 mph, now made in 4.9 seconds (or 4.7 seconds with the optional Sport Chrono packages) and the top speed of 175 mph with the manual gear box , or 174 mph with the PDK.

But that’s not all. With the new Cayman R, Porsche also focused on reducing the car’s weight. For that the company used only lightweight components and renounced any convenience equipment. There’s also a new set 19 inch light wheels. The result is a total weight of 2855 lbs and a power-to-weight ratio of 8.6 lb per horsepower.

For the exterior, the Cayman R gets a distinctive fixed rear spoiler, high-quality silver-painted wheels and numerous sporting highlights. Those highlights also consist of black-framed headlights , black exterior mirrors and the “PORSCHE” lettering on the side in contrasting black or silver, depending on the body color.

Uwe Gemballa, who founded the Gemballa company for Porsche tuning, disappeared after arriving in Johannesberg, South Africa five months ago. Unfortunately, Mr. Gemballa has been found dead, shot execution-style in the head.

Gemballa’s disappearance caused many outlets to question what Gemballa was involved in. The Sunday Times now claims he may have become tangled in a money laundering scheme involving Czech billionaire Radovan Krejcir and “The discovery of his body threatens to blow wide open an international syndicate stretching from Switzerland and Germany to Johannesburg, involving alleged money laundering, tax evasion, imported cars stuffed with cash and contract killings.”

Green Light for Series Development of the 918 Spyder

Stuttgart. In its session today, the Supervisory Board of Dr. Ing. h.c. F. Porsche AG, Stuttgart, gave the green light for series development of the Porsche 918 Spyder. Reflecting the overwhelming response from the public and customers to the Concept Study, the Supervisory Board gave Porsche’s Board of Management the mission to develop a production model based on the car already presented. This concept version of an ultra-high-performance mid-engined sports car with plug-in hybrid technology made its debut at the 2010 Geneva Motor Show and at Auto China in Bejing, hitting the headlines worldwide.

Michael Macht, President and Chairman of the Board of Management of Porsche AG: “Production of the 918 Spyder in a limited series proves that we are taking the right approach with Porsche Intelligent Performance featuring the combination of supreme performance and efficient drivetrain concepts. We will develop the 918 Spyder in Weissach and assemble it in Zuffenhausen. This is also a very important commitment to Germany as a manufacturing base.”

The Concept Study of the 918 Spyder allows CO2 emissions of just 70 g/km, corresponding to fuel consumption of 3.0 litre/100 km (94.1 mpg imp) in the NEDC, on the one hand, and the performance of a super-sports car, on the other. This extremely efficient drivetrain technology then forms a symbiosis in the 918 Spyder with truly outstanding design and high-tech motorsport achievements. Further product details of the 918 Spyder will be disclosed in the months to come.
