“Macho Man” Randy Savage Dies

By Eastwood   |    May 20, 2011 12:16 pm    |   Random, Sports   |    1 Comment

If you are in your mid to late 20s or older, you probably grew up watching Randy “Macho Man” Savage running around a ring yelling “OOOH YEAAAAAH” or saying the same catch phrase in his many Slim Jim commercials. Through out the 80s and 90s, Savage built an illustrious career wrestling in local territories and eventually making his way to the WWF (now the WWE) and WCW. You probably remember him most for wrestling side by side and against with Jake “The Snake” Roberts, The Ultimate Warrior and Hulk Hogan. And if you’re a male, you probably remember him for walking to the ring with the Lovely, Miss Elizabeth.

Today we are sad to report that Macho Man, real name Randy Poffo, suffered a heart attack while driving his Jeep Wrangler in Tampa, Florida. As a result of the heart attack, Savage lost control of his Jeep and veered off and collided head on with a tree. His wife of 1 year Lynn was also a passenger but only received minor injuries. As a result of the heart attack and injuries from the crash, Savage later died in a Tampa hospital.

Above is a photo of Savage’s Jeep after the accident.

Hyundai’s launches Genesis Prada sedan

By admin   |    May 19, 2011 2:01 am    |   Motorsports   |    0 Comments

Hyundai and Prada is no longer laughable in the same sentence, as it was not so long ago. Hyundai now carries a very different image.  No model shows it more than Genesis.  And although it is yet to be seen if the Genesis name will branch off to form its own high dollar badge. Moves like this sure make us believe so.

Two years ago, the Korean automaker announced a partnership with the Italian fashion house with a concept car. That car has now launched the production Genesis Prada in its South Korean home market. Distinguishing the special edition luxury sedan is special paint – either Brown Moro, Blue Baltico or Black Nero – with a shark-fin antenna on the roof, offset by dark chrome trim and special 19-inch alloys. Saffiano parchment leather swaths the interior along with piano lacquer black trim and a rear-seat entertainment system. And of course you can count on the requisite badges to identify this Genesis as different from all others.

Hyundai’s celebrated 5.0-liter V8 with 424 horsepower is on pushing duty, mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission. Who’s black and red gilled cover makes me think of the old Tiburon a car I always liked. Distribution will be constricted initially to South Korea, before availability will commence in limited numbers of China and Middle Eastern markets.

No More Free Mobile Web.

A few of the nation’s biggest wireless carriers have wised up. They are putting a stop to apps that let Google Android users tether their smartphones for use as modems without paying the carriers’ extra fee.

Free Android phone tethering apps that are typically found in the Android Market are not available for Android phones on AT&T, Verizon Wireless, and T-Mobile USA. Sprint customers apparently are still able to access many of these tethering apps from the Android Market.

AT&T and Verizon have said that Google chooses which apps are in the Android Market. Neither company would comment on whether they asked Google to remove the Wireless Tether app or any other free tethering app from the Android Market.

However a Google spokesman told Fierce Wireless that it is not blocking the app. Instead it’s simply making it unavailable for download on certain carrier networks at the request of those carriers.

In essence, the apps are still on the Google Market, but they are just not visible to users on certain carrier networks. Apps are only hidden from view on certain carriers.

If your sly enough you can you can still side-loaded these apps onto the device. If the developer distributes the application file in a way other than the Android Market (say, just as a download from a Web site) a user can install that on his device.

AT&T has been sending e-mails warning users who are tethering their phones without paying the extra fee. AT&T charges $20 extra per month for the tethering feature. Customers who tether are given 4GB of data to use during the month. Customers who exceed that limit are charged $10 a gigabyte thereafter.

T-Mobile USA has the best value at $15 a month in addition to a smartphone data plan for 5GB worth of data per month. And Verizon Wireless charges $20 a month on top of its $30 smartphone data fee to use up to 2GB of data per month.

Pandora – Laughing with you not at you.

By admin   |    May 5, 2011 2:39 am    |   Music   |    0 Comments

Pandora has announced the launch of comedy stations. Now just the same as with music, you can pick artist, skip or rate  tracks you do or don’t like to personalize your station. According to Pandora, a team of analysts have sorted through thousands of performances to classify them based on style and content.

“We are delighted to now be able to give people a mix of familiar and new comic material that they’ll love to listen to,” Pandora founder and chief strategy officer, Tim Westergren, said in a statement.

Pandora launched in 2000, allowing users to stream music over the Web. They have a growing (and dedicated) user base that creates personal stations based on genres or artist

Pandora’s comedy content likely won’t be as large as  it is for music fans, they have said that it has quite a bit available and will grow.

Star Wars Big Reveal – May 4th

By admin   |    May 4, 2011 8:00 am    |   Random   |    0 Comments

“May the 4th be with you.” is the quote on StarWars.com, but what could it be?   In classic LucasArts style the big reveal set for 6:00am PST has left me wanting. The tease countdown that promised “All will be revealed” today, revealed very little.

Lucasfilm was tight-lipped, and secrecy was the whole point. I think more because there is not much to be said about the “big reveal” than to be secretive in itself.

So whats was this big seceret? what the hoopla about?…

“The Complete Saga on Blu-ray September 2011.”

Fast Five – Fast & Furious 5 | Movie Review

By admin   |    May 2, 2011 3:20 am    |   Random   |    0 Comments

The wheels have yet to come off this car-crazy franchise and the fifth installment, set in a much grittier Rio than the recent screen version. A Smash-’em-up heist film sturdy enough to please much of the franchise fans.

Fast Five (Fast and Furious 5) director Justin Lin, back for his third go-around, opens it up in top gear; 30 seconds in and the first screech of tires hits the air. Former cop Brian O’Conner (Paul Walker) and girlfriend Mia (Jordana Brewster) along with some friends bust Dominic Toretto (Vin Diesel) out of a prison transport bus.

On the run in Rio de Janeiro, unlike the typical Rio location film, filled with the famously underclad residents and luscious beach backdrops. We get favelas and back-street garages and gun-toting bad guys. Still eye-candy did not lack; for we are given beautiful women (Jordana Brewster, Gal Gadot, Elsa Pataky) and many beautiful cars.

After making a mortal enemy of the city’s reigning drug lord, Reyes (Joaquim de Almeida), Dom and company find themselves in a jam that makes illegal street-racing look like kids’ stuff. With tank-like federal agent Hobbs (Dwayne Johnson) hot on their trail and Reyes’ henchmen blasting at them with rocket-propelled grenades, Dom decides the only way to buy freedom is with $100 million of Reyes’ money.

So he assembles a dream team, calling in franchise favorites including Tej (Chris “Ludacris” Bridges), Roman (Tyrese Gibson), Han (Sung Kang) and Gisele (Gal Gadot) for “one last job.”

Big crashes, beautiful women and roiling testosterone, not to mention the addition of The Rock as a fire-and-brimstone federal agent – there’s plenty to pull in the audience that’s followed over a decade the turbo-charged adventures of a gang of street-racers.

HKS USA Closing their U.S. Doors.

By Eastwood   |    April 28, 2011 4:39 pm    |   Motorsports, Motorsports, Sports   |    0 Comments

HKS USA, Inc a leader in the Japanese Domestic Market (JDM) parts industry will be officially closing their United States operations. As of today, HKS’ plan is to close their US Operations by August. However, this does not mean the end of HKS as they will still be fully operational in Japan, where they will be serving their American market from.

HKS cites a declining industry, the poor U.S. economy as well as the weakening of the U.S. Dollar as reasons for their decision to close U.S. operations. You can read their official annoucement below.
