For as much as I enjoyed the recent release from world renown DJ/Producer Tiesto, I am overwhelmed with the mass appeal it actually has potential for. It is truly a testament to how much electronic music has truly crossed over into the mainstream market. This has been apparent for years in countries abroad, but shockingly, it’s until now, America is finally catching up with the trend. Most of this could be due to the crumbling infrastructure of the formally all powerful “Record Industry” and the paradigm shift leaning toward a more independent distribution of music. Yet to see more familiar names like Nelly Furtatdo, and Tegan and Sara as collaborators is exciting, but I begin to wonder where all this is going when you start to see more and more collaborations just for the sake of having collaborations. It has been announced Tiesto is to be collaborating with even more mainstream artist like the Three 6 Mafia, Sean Kingston, and Flo Rida. This is just my opinion but I have heard the track “Feel It”  and wasn’t very impressed. I still have hope though, through their methods of promoting the track they have released a means for aspiring remixers to take hold of parts of the track via Beatport.com and I anticipate it might generate some positive results but we’ll just have to see.
