After crashing her car Sunday, police said a Scranton woman suspected of burglarizing the Dunmore Inn was found to have a sizeable stash of drugs and money hidden in an unlikely location.
According to a criminal complaint:
Dunmore police Officer Anthony Cali asked Scranton police Officer Nancy Baumann to detain Karin Mackaliunas, 27, 1609 Mulberry St., at the scene of a crash at the North Seventh Avenue off-ramp Sunday evening.
After her car was towed, Ms. Mackaliunas was ready to leave the scene of the crash when Officer Cali contacted Officer Baumann and asked for Ms. Mackaliunas to be detained because she was suspected of stealing items from the inn.
After searching her for weapons, Officer Baumann found three bags of heroin in Ms. Mackaliunas’ jacket.
But as the officer drove her to Scranton police headquarters to charge her for drug possession, Officer Baumann noticed Ms. Mackaliunas fidgeting in the backseat of the cruiser.
After a struggle with Officer Baumann during a more thorough search at headquarters, Ms. Mackaliunas asked to speak with Sergeant Michael Mayer and told him she had hidden more heroin in her vagina.
A search of Ms. Mackaliunas by a doctor at Community Medical Center turned up 54 bags of heroin, 31 empty bags used to package heroin, 8.5 prescription pills and $51.22.
Ms. Mackaliunas was charged with possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and two counts of possession of a controlled substance.
Hollywood Golden Era Legend Passes on – Elizabeth Taylor Dies Wednesday
Elizabeth Taylor, the violet-eyed femme fatale whose smoldering talent and eight marriages made her a legend of Hollywood’s golden era, died on Wednesday March 23, 2011 in Los Angeles. She was 79.
The two-time Oscar winner suffered from congestive heart failure and had been hospitalized in Los Angeles at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center since mid-February.
“We know, quite simply, that the world is a better place for Mom having lived in it,” her son Michael Wilding said in a statement to The Times. “Her legacy will never fade, her spirit will always be with us, and her love will live forever in our hearts.” He and Taylor’s other children, Christopher Wilding, Liza Todd and Maria Burton, were with their mom when she died, publicist Sally Morrison said.
Taylor, child actress turned adult Academy Award-winner and AIDS/HIV activist, was also known for her beauty and her love life — married eight times to seven men, with Richard Burton the one with whom she once said the love “was just too much” — as well as her friendship with the late Michael Jackson. While movie critic Kenneth Turan, in an appreciation, remembers the violet-eyed actress as being in “a class by herself”:
Her astonishingly dramatic personal life, characterized by full-throttle romantic love and later recriminations, serious illnesses and tragic deaths, matched the drama of her on-screen roles stride for stride and maybe even bested it.
Her movies — to name but a few — included “Lassie Come Home” and “National Velvet” as a tween ; “Cat on a Hot Tin Roof” with Paul Newman; “Giant” with Rock Hudson and James Dean; “Cleopatra,” “Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf” and more with Richard Burton; and “Butterfield 8” with Eddie Fisher. “Virginia Woolf” and “Butterfield 8” had her winning lead actress Oscars.

UFC Fighter, Jon “Bones” Jones got a little more than what he expected during his pre-fight meditation in Patterson, NJ today. While performing his pre-fight ritual which includes meditation at a park, Jones heard a woman scream “I’ve been robbed!”
Jones and his Coaches (Greg Jackson & Mike Winklejohn) went to her aid and began to chase the wanna be robber down. When he was able to catch up to the robber, Jones took his legs out and placed him in what Greg Jackson called as a “funky figure four leg lock.” Once subdued, Jones’ coaches held the theif at bay until local police arrived. Afterwards, Jones tweeted about todays pre-fight event. “It feels so good to help others. It gives me power and energy. I caught him. Coach Jackson finished him. “ According to Jones’ Twitter, the thief smashed into an old ladys car window and ran off with her GPS.

2011 Sportec SPR1 FL
The beautiful Porsche 911 Turbo (997) has been beautified even more by the car tuning company Sportec; however, most of the modifications happen under the hood. On the outside the Sportec SPR1 FL looks like a standard Porsche 911.
Sportec was able to squeeze out a whopping 858 horsepower from the 3.6 liter twin-turbo boxer engine. Power is sent to all four wheels; the car rockets from standstill to 62 mph in 3 seconds and goes on to 124 mph (200 km/h) in under 8 seconds and after another 10 seconds it has already reached 186 mph (300 km/h). The high speed journey comes to an end at 236 mph (380 km/h).
The massive horsepower gain comes courtesy of new hybrid turbocharges with a high performance intercooler, a smooth flow air inlet and a carbon fiber ram air induction system, a new exhaust system, titanium connecting rods, and continuous camshaft phasing. To put the power to the ground effectively, a new high performance clutch and a limited slip differential was added.
Visually, the Sportec SPR1 FL Porsche 911 Turbo doesn’t look too different, a new more aerodynamic rear bumper is added with LED taillights and bigger more aerodynamic mirrors are also installed.

The mother is so horrified that she moves the family to a another new home in hopes of leaving the fearful memories behind them.The family quickly discovers that the haunting has nothing to do with their home. The supernatural outpouring is coming from their comatose son. Several scientific experts observe the son, the family and their home. They determine that Dalton is trapped on the other side in a dark world they call “The Further”. The parents team with the scientists to try to bring their boy back from The Further and save him from the clutches of a dark entity that hopes to claim him as his own.
PG13 means instead of a lame gore-fest, it’s actually going to have to focus on psychological horror, which IMO is much scarier.
Nate Dogg Dies at 41
BREAKING NEWS: After suffering from two strokes since 2007, Long Beach Rap Legend, Nate Dogg aka Nathaniel Hale has died at 41 years old. On Tuesday, March 15th, 2011, his family announced his death. Born and raised in Long Beach, Nate rose to fame by providing hooks for Dr. Dre, Eminem, Warren G and Snoop Dogg among countless other artists. While not known for his individual solo success, Nate was considered one of the greatest hook men in the business. According to Nate Dogg’s lawyer, Mark Geragos, Nate died due to complications from his multiple strokes.
There have been many rumors of Nate’s passing in the past, but this appears to be legitimate. Rumors swirled in 2007 when he suffered his first stroke, then again in 2008 when he suffered a second stroke. Since 2008, he had been recovering slowly from the ill effects of the strokes in a recovery home. The official annoucement was made on the Long Beach Press Telegram.

Mitsubishi announces that the EVO is dead.
According to Gayu Eusegi, head of global product development for Mitsubishi, the Lancer Evolution X will be the last Evo the Japanese automaker ever builds. Eusegi says the move is part of a shift in strategy to put the company’s product focus and ethos on leadership in EV technology.
To that end, Autocar indicates that Mitsubishi will release eight fully-electric or hybrid-electric cars by the time 2015 rolls around, and make a grab for a big portion of the CO2-reduction market share. It goes without saying that the fun-yet-fuel-swilling Evo just doesn’t fit that mindset, particularly since it apes a rally car that no longer exists.
Despite the Evo’s huge popularity, Mitsubishi apparently isn’t scared of the step and says it’s confident that consumers will glom on to the idea and rally behind the brand. By killing the Evo, they’re making their intentions plain to an increasingly environmentally-conscious car-buying public.
Eusegi killed dead any notion that the brand would roll out a performance-oriented hybrid as well. “Maybe the world can change, and maybe someday we can do a motor race by electric vehicles. Maybe then we can enter the market agian,” he said.
This report of the Evo’s death would seem to stand in contrast to multiple reports that an Evo XI is in the works with a hybrid drivetrain. We’re taking this latest Autocar missive with a few grains of salt, as we can see how Eusegi may have simply meant that an Evo that relies exclusively on internal combustion is dead – a hybrid Evo would seem to offer a nice technological bridge to Mitsubishi’s more electrically minded future.
