UFC 123 – Rampage vs Machida
| November 6, 2010 1:05 am |“UFC 123: Rampage vs. Machida” takes place Nov. 20 at the Palace at Auburn Hills in suburban Detroit. The evening’s main event sees former light heavyweight champions Quinton “Rampage” Jackson and Lyoto Machida clash, while the night’s co-feature sees MMA legends Matt Hughes and B.J. Penn clash for a third time.
Jackson (30-8 MMA, 5-2 UFC) looks to bounce back from a May loss to nemesis Rashad Evans at UFC 114. The contest was the culmination of 14 months worth of rivalry and a coaching gig on “The Ultimate Fighter” opposite Evans. Prior to the loss, Jackson had earned back-to-back victories over Keith Jardine and Wanderlei Silva.
Meanwhile, Machida (16-1 MMA, 8-1 UFC) also looks to bounce back from a loss – the first defeat of his career. “The Dragon” was knocked out in the first round of his May rematch with Mauricio “Shogun” Rua and relinquished his belt in the process. Prior to the defeat, Machida had earned eight-straight UFC wins and both claimed and once defended the UFC’s light heavyweight title.

She says she likes my watch, but she wants Steve’s AP
And she stay up all hours watching QVC
She said she loves my songs, she bought my mp3
And so I put her number in my Bold BB
I got a black BM, She got a white TT
She wanna see what’s hiding in my CK briefs
I tell her wear suspenders and some PVC
And then I’ll film it all up on my JVC…

Giants Win the World Series
| November 2, 2010 12:31 am |The prize that eluded Willie and Barry at long last belongs to the San Francisco Giants, thanks to a band of self-described castoffs and misfits and their shaggy-haired ace. The Giants won the World Series, beating the Texas Rangers 3-1 in a tense Game 5 and taking the trophy home to the city by the Bay for the first time.
It was an overdue victory – the Giants last wore the crown in 1954, four years before they moved west, despite the likes of baseball giants Willie Mays, Barry Bonds and Juan Marichal. Lincecum outdueled Cliff Lee in an every-pitch-matters matchup that was scoreless until Renteria hit a stunning three-run homer with two outs in the seventh inning. Nelson Cruz homered in the bottom half, but Lincecum preserved the lead.
Manager Bruce Bochy enjoys calling his Giants a ragtag bunch. Maybe Cody Ross, Aubrey Huff and Freddy Sanchez fit that description. But the foundation of this club – for now, for the foreseeable future – is totally home grown, built on a deep, talented and young rotation, a rookie catcher with huge star potential and their bearded closer.
