Here are some new pictures from the upcoming Fast Five film, the 5th installment of the Fast and the Furious franchise. As you can tell from the pictures, many old faces reappear while a slew of new faces make their debut in the franchise series. The most notable addition is former WWE Superstar, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, as lawman Luke Hobbs, assigned to capture Dom and his crew. Another face you may recognize is Matt Schulze, who played Vince in the first movie. You can only imagine what he will be up to in Fast Five. And in case you’re wondering, the 6th installment is also in the works but it will not be filmed back to back with the 5th film. While taxpayers are flipping the bill to keep America’s auto industry afloat, an undercover investigation shows illegal activities by Chrysler employees who have enjoyed nearly $15 billion in government money.
Dozens of autoworkers in Detroit were caught on camera drinking beer and smoking marijuana before heading to work at the Chrysler plant that President Obama praised in a speech just two months ago.
An exclusive investigation by MyFoxDetroit showed workers at Chrysler’s Jefferson North Assembly Plant in Detroit, Mich., drinking beer and smoking joints while on a half-hour lunch break at a nearby park.
The investigation — conducted over several weeks and based on tips from workers at the plant — outraged the auto giant’s top executives who reportedly called the behavior “totally unacceptable.”
Following reports of a private viewing in Pebble Beach earlier this month, Ferrari has revealed first photos and details of the SA APERTA, a drop-top version of the 599. Production is limited to only 80 units all of which have been pre-sold.
The significance of the 80 units pays tribute to styling firm and long time Ferrari partner, Pininfarina, for their 80th anniversary. The SA nomenclature also pays tribute to both Sergio and Andrea Pininfarina.
Described as a true roadster, a removable soft top design is used which Ferrari describes should “be resorted to only if the weather gets particularly bad.” Other body alterations include a lower-angled windscreen, integrated roll-bars flanked by aerodynamic fins and a lowered suspension.
The chassis has been stiffened to compensate for the absence of the roof, however, Ferrari states that any added weight brought on by the re-engineering of the chassis is negligible.
The SA Aperta is equipped with the familiar 6.0-liter V12 producing 661 bhp, same as the recently announced 599 GTO, the road-going version of the 599XX track car.
The SA Aperta makes its public debut in Paris this week.

Even so, the first 14 minutes of Saturday’s main event of UFC 119 tested the patience of the 15,811 fans who packed Conseco Fieldhouse, and not even a knockout finish in the final minute of the bout could change fans’ opinions of Frank Mir and Mirko “Cro Cop” Filipovic’s heavyweight encounter as restless fans showered boos for the lack of action.
Mir spent the bulk of the fight bullying the Croatian striker into the fence and using his mass to wear down his opponent. But, Mir wasn’t active enough in the clinch, forcing referee Herb Dean to separate the two and restart the bout in the middle.
When the two did engage, it wasn’t with a flurry of fists and feet that fans were anticipating. With just over a minute left in the third and final round, a decision from the judges seemed to be the likely outcome. Then Mir landed a right knee strike to the jaw of the former Croatian police anti-terrorist commando and knocked out the 36-year-old striker to pick up his 14th career victory.
The fans’ dissatisfaction was also shared by the victor in the post-fight press conference.
“The only thing I can take from this is that I beat him without a single takedown. That’s the only positive I take from this,” Mir said. “I can breathe easy that it didn’t go to a judges’ decision. I guess a sloppy win is better than a sloppy loss. That being said, the knockout was the only highlight. I’m completely upset with my performance.”

It was announced this week on TMZ that a New Years Eve Sesame Street special starring Katy Perry has been partially canceled due to her revealing wardrobe choice. Katy shot a segment for the show in which she sings a cleaned-up version of her song, “Hot N Cold” with Elmo. The video made its way to YouTube on Monday and produced a million views, but some parents started complaining about how much cleavage was being shown. What the YouTube viewers were unaware of was that what seems to be Katy’s breasts, is actually a flesh-colored mesh that goes all the way to her neck. We’ve learned producers have decided not to air the song on the show.

Audi TTRS Coming to U.S., Thanks to Facebook Petition!!!
Sometimes, the best way to determine an outcome is to put it to a vote. Just ask the Audi TTRS when it hits our shores in mid-2011.
“Last year Audi unveiled the RS version of its TT model at the Geneva auto show, but as with many European high-performance unveilings, the question of a U.S. import version was in doubt,” explains CNET. “To settle the question, Audi posted a survey on its Facebook page, and got 11,500 yeas for the Audi TT RS in a month. With this result, Audi says it will bring the TT RS to the U.S. by the third quarter of 2011, enough time in Internet terms for people to have moved on from car fandom to the latest Lady Gaga video.“
Jalopnik notes that the U.S.-bound TTRS has “no prices set yet, and only the hardtop aluminum and steel version makes the trip.”
“Audi is warning American customers that a limited number of cars will be imported, asking them to offer their contact info so that they can receive further information when this becomes available,” writes Autoevolution.

The Fast and the Famous
BMW has announced the world premier of the concept for its new 6 Series concept coupe at the 2010 Paris Motor Show Oct. 12 – 17.
Judging from the preview photos, the new coupe still retains some of those classic hallmarks that make a BMW coupe (stretched hood, short front overhang, a low silhouette with a swooped roofline). The concept has a lower silhouette and a tighter rear end, giving it a sportier visual feel.
BMW says the 2+2-seater will have full-LED, adaptive headlights and a newly designed, freestanding control display for the iDrive operating system. It has a full-glass roof, Bang & Olufsen sound and the driver-oriented cockpit (instrument panel, electronics).
The best part is where most “concept” cars never see the light of day, what you are looking at is a concept car in name only. Now while we like this concept over the current 6 series and it is a definite step in the right direction. We would have liked a little more, lets hope the next time they take a leap instead of just a step. What are your thoughts?
