Top Gear U.S.A.

By admin   |    November 23, 2010 12:38 am    |   Motorsports, Random   |    1 Comment

Top Gear USA has been buzzing around the Interwebz for a while now.  It has been a rocky start for the show to say the lesat. It started in 2005 when Discovery Channel made a pilot of the show featuring actor and IHRA driver Bruno Massel as one of the hosts, but it was not picked up by the network. NBC announced, in January 2008, that it had ordered a pilot for an American version of the show, retitled Sixth Gear.  BBC Worldwide has been contracted to produce the pilot for NBC.

On June 16, 2008, NBC and BBC officially announced an American version of Top Gear, to be hosted by Adam Carolla, Tanner Foust and Eric Stromer.  The studio segments for the pilot were taped on July 26, 2008 to generally favorable reviews citing close following of the UK version’s format.  NBC was expected to have Top Gear premiere as a mid-season replacement in 2009.

On December 11, 2008, NBC reversed its decision to place the show as a mid-season replacement, citing concerns about the potential success of a car-themed show in light of the failure of Knight Rider. NBC allowed the BBC to shop it around to cable networks to possibly pick it up.  In February 2009 Jeremy Clarkson stated that the American version had been “canned”, claiming that focus groups “… just don’t understand a single word we’re on about. They just don’t get it really.”

Jay Leno, who originally turned down offers to host the show, expressed concern over whether or not a show like Top Gear could be successful in America.  In a column published by The Sunday Times, Leno expresses concern that an American version could lack the critical reviews the British version is known for.  The British show is produced for the BBC with public funds while the American show will air on commercial television.  Leno believes that the show may have to worry about offending current and potential sponsors by giving their products poor reviews, leading to a compromise in the journalistic integrity and freedom of the original show.

On August 6, 2010, the first Top Gear trailer was published on the web, giving fans a preview on what to expect on the upcoming episodes to be broadcast on the History Channel. In this trailer, new hosts Adam Ferrara, Tanner Foust, and Rutledge Wood are seen participating in a Moonshine Challenge and Tanner Foust also takes a Dodge Viper for a test drive.

Well finally the first episode aired Sunday evening on the history channel.  The Show has had mixed reviews from Top Gear U.K. fans.  Although it is not as good as the U.K. version and might never be, it shows promise.  The show is enjoyable but still very new. A key factor for the show is the relationship between the host. While Clarkson, Hammond, & May have had years to work on their relatinship our new host have had none and it shows. The First episode felt a little fake and forced.  Over all it needs more polish that time will bring.  Our source told us that what he saw of upcoming episodes will be much better.  We will stand watch with anticipation and delight. We have faith boys do us well.

Wesley Snipes Ordered to Prison

By admin   |    November 20, 2010 2:21 am    |   Random   |    0 Comments

Actor Wesley Snipes was ordered on Friday to start serving a three-year prison sentence for failing to file income tax returns by a federal judge who rejected the Hollywood star’s bid for a new trial.

“The defendant Snipes had a fair trial … The time has come for the judgment to be enforced,” U.S. District Judge Terrell Hodges said in his ruling.

Revoking bail for the 48-year-old star of the “Blade” trilogy, the judge ordered him to report to prison as directed by the U.S. Marshals Service or Bureau of Prisons. It was not clear when or where Snipes would begin serving his time behind bars, however. His lawyer, Daniel Meachum, has said he would appeal if a new trial was denied. Meachum told the Orlando Sentinel the ruling was shocking.

“Wesley is very disappointed but staying strong and positive,” the newspaper quoted Meachum as saying.

Pacquiao Sued Over Music For $10 Million

By admin   |    November 18, 2010 2:39 am    |   Random, Sports   |    0 Comments

TMZ has reported that Manny Pacquiao just got hit with a $10 million lawsuit, but not for breaking anyone’s eye socket … rather, because he allegedly screwed over a company that hired him to record music.

RBM Group International filed a lawsuit today against Manny in L.A. County Superior Court — alleging the pound-for-pound boxing champ signed a contract in 2009 in which he promised to record 12 songs … but never did.

In the docs, RBM claims they wrote Pacquiao a $40,000 check in October of ’09 — which he deposited — in return for the first two songs … but the boxer has refused to record the music.

RBM claims they’re out of pocket $200,000 … and they’ve lost profits in the amount of $10 mil.

Throw Back Commercial

We are taking it back a bit, about a decade, to the year 2000 when BMW decided to introduce an even better and faster sports sedan known as the (E39 body style) M5. Over the years the M5 has evolved from its historic roots recently sporting a naturally aspirated V8 producing 400hp and the outgoing, but infamous, high-revving V10 that produced 500hp. Now upon the horizon we see evidence of a twin turbo V8 with about 600hp (rumored 2012 BMW M5). The video below is just one moment in time where we all became bug-eyed from BMW’s 400hp V8 powerplant in one of the most sought-after sports sedans on the planet during the early 2000’s. The video below is an epic car commercial, one of the best around, of the E39 BMW M5. Enjoy!

From director Todd Phillips, “Due Date” stars Robert Downey Jr. and Zach Galifianakis as two unlikely companions who are thrown together on a road trip that turns out to be as life-changing as it is outrageous.  Downey plays Peter Highman, an expectant first-time father whose wife’s due date is a mere five days away.  As Peter hurries to catch a flight home from Atlanta to be at her side for the birth, his best intentions go completely awry when a chance encounter with aspiring actor Ethan Tremblay (Galifianakis) forces Peter to hitch a ride with Ethan—on what turns out to be a cross-country road trip that will ultimately destroy several cars, numerous friendships and Peter’s last nerve.

The film is being produced by Phillips and Dan Goldberg, who previously collaborated on “The Hangover.”  The behind-the-scenes creative team from “The Hangover” returns, including director of photography Lawrence Sher, production designer Bill Brzeski, editor Debra Neil-Fisher and costume designer Louise Mingenbach.

Spanish hookers are now safe Spanish hookers

By admin   |    October 29, 2010 12:30 am    |   Random   |    0 Comments

Spanish prostitutes are being ordered to wear safety vests or they will be fined $56. Spanish prostitutes must now wear safety vests even though they are allowed to walk freely through the streets of Spain because prostitution is legal there. Isn’t it wonderful to know that hookers will be safe? Man, I gotta go to Spain!!!

Unfortunately, some of the hookers in Spain haven’t been able to get safety vests because there are not enough of them to go around. Aww…poor hookers. Those same Spanish prostitutes are now being fined for what they don’t feel is their fault. The safety vests law is in effect in the city of Lleida where some believe that the Mayor Joseph Maria Bia has an ulterior motive. Several people believe that Joseph Maria Bea is only enforcing the safety vests law as a means of ridding Lleida of prostitutes.

Prostitution will always be around, so why aren’t the laws being geared towards educating these working girls on safe sex and not just safety vests? Seriously, there’s nothing wrong with safety vests for one’s chest but what about a safety vests for other parts of one’s body aka condoms? Wouldn’t condoms and safe sex be the safest thing to promote?

Speaking about Spanish prostitutes being forced to wear safety vests, a spokesman for the police officers said, “In the past couple of months the prostitutes have been fined for two reasons: for not wearing the reflective jacket and for creating danger on the public highway.” There are an estimated 300,000 Spanish prostitutes walking the streets of Spain and only a percentage of those are in safety vests. Wow, 300,000 prostitutes!!! I really need to go to Spain!!!

Paranormal Activity 2 – A Must See!!!

By admin   |    October 28, 2010 12:55 am    |   Random   |    1 Comment

Paranormal Activity 2 as expected is leading this week’s top 10 movies chart. There are movies and there are sequels. Then there is Paranormal Activity and then there is Paranormal Activity 2. If the first one made you jump out of the chair, this one will do the same times 10!!! This is a real-deal Halloween film .

The setting is not very different from the previous installment. It is the similar haunting locations made even more haunting with the camera angles. Revealing much about the story will become a spoiler. It would suffice to say just this much, that this time round the central character is a family that has been targeted by something supernatural. And at the center of it all is the baby in the family, baby hunter. Rest of it needs to be seen to be felt.

The performances are great, but what really is the mainstay here is the presentation or screenplay in more technical terms. It just unfolds beautifully, with just the right amount of chills and thrills incorporated with just the perfect timing. While you sit watching the events unfold, there is this constant sense of uneasiness about the air which does not let you relax until the last frame. This is where the movie clinches it all. It sticks so brilliantly to its genre and rather comes out shining and exemplary on how good horror is created with simple yet effective ways of playing on the mind of audience. So, for this one, I would say the real hero is Todd Williams who steered his crew really well. Also the script writers deserve fair amount of credit.

On the acting front, Sprague Grayden completely stands out. She has done an outstanding job. This clearly ranks among her best work till date. Even the scenes where the baby is shown all helpless are very effective. All in all, this is one movie which is quite tough to put out of mind after watching.

This is definitely not to be missed and preferably to be viewed in your nearest theater. Waiting for the DVD would be such a waste. I’m a film buff and love the grit that the theater projector adds to the image. After a long time, a satisfying horror experience! Now if I can just get my assistant to be brave enough, I can go see it again!

GQ and GLEE get heat from Parents’ Group over photo’s

By admin   |    October 25, 2010 1:20 am    |   Galleries, Random   |    0 Comments

A parents’ group has taken issue with the racy GQ shoot that shows ‘Glee’ stars Lea Michelle and Dianna Agron (both 24) stripping in the halls of a high school.

The Parents Television Council released a statement slamming ‘Glee’ producers, TMZ reports: “It is disturbing that GQ, which is explicitly written for adult men, is sexualizing the actresses who play high school-aged characters on ‘Glee’ in this way. It borders on pedophilia. By authorizing this kind of near-pornographic display, the creators of the program have established their intentions on the show’s direction. And it isn’t good for families.”

GQ fired back, releasing a statement to THE INSIDER:”The Parents Television Council must not be watching much TV these days and should learn to divide reality from fantasy,” Jim Nelson, editor-in-chief of GQ, said. “As often happens in Hollywood, these ‘kids’ are in their twenties. Cory Montieth’s almost 30! I think they’re old enough to do what they want.”

Hangover 2 – Mel Gibson out, Liam Neeson in!!!

By admin   |    October 23, 2010 12:40 am    |   Random   |    1 Comment

It looks like Mel Gibson won’t be making a cameo appearance in “The Hangover 2” afterall.

Warner Bros. Pictures, Legendary Pictures and director Todd Phillips confirmed today that Gibson will not be joining stars Bradley Cooper, Zach Galifianakis and Ed Helms in the highly-anticipated sequel, which follows the gang to the exotic but dangerous locale of Thailand. Liam Neeson has been given the cameo role instead, which is kind of weird since the two are represented by the same management group.

Phillips stated: “I thought Mel would have been great in the movie and I had the full backing of [WB president] Jeff Robinov and his team. But I realize filmmaking is a collaborative effort, and this decision ultimately did not have the full support of my entire cast and crew.”

Galifianakis was rumored to be upset with the decision to cast Gibson in a cameo, explaining to Comedy Death-Ray podcast host Scott Aukerman that he’s turned down several projects on moral grounds, saying:

“But a movie you’re acting in, you don’t have a lot of control – you just show up and vomit your lines out. I’m not the boss. I’m in a deep protest right now with a movie I’m working on, up in arms about something. But I can’t get the guys to [listen] … I’m not making any leeway.” Galifianakis cut Aukerman off with an abrupt warning sound as the host began to mention the film’s title, but after Aukerman pressed, “I know you’re filming The Hhhhhhhh … ” Galifianakis admitted, “It has something to do with a movie I’m working on, yeah. I’ll tell you about it later. It’s very frustrating.”

That’s not to say that Galifianakis had anything to do with Gibson’s removal from the film, though it is interesting how much the times have changed, when a guy who was best known as a stand-up comic three years ago expresses his frustration (which he has every right to do in this case) and a major (yet controversial) movie star is forced to leave a project that would’ve been beneficial to both parties.

Jackass 3D Breaks Box Office Record!!!

By admin   |    October 20, 2010 1:12 am    |   Random   |    0 Comments

Stupid scored big with an estimated $50 million opening weekend for Jackass 3D, Johnny Knoxville’s third foray into theaters. The film, which lured in 15 percent more women than Jackass 2, may break the record for highest-grossing October opening of all time, if projections hold. The R-rated laugh fest will surpass Scary Movie 3, which earned $48 million back in 2003, and a single-day opening record of $21.8 million for its opening day Friday. The film scored well with audiences, mostly young males, earning a B+ from exit pollster CinemaScore.
