The Stig has been revealed, then fired!!!

By admin   |    September 1, 2010 1:29 am    |   Motorsports, Sports   |    0 Comments

 Breaking News:

According to the British tabloids, The Stig was fired from Top Gear. In the light of the recent events, with The Stig, a.k.a. Ben Collins, looking to publish his autobiography, various sources are reporting that the show’s producers had to let him go. Recently, more and more rumors are suggesting that one of the people under the white racing suit of The Stig is professional driver Ben Collins. There is a lot of evidence pointing to him, including some of his company’s financial statements. Currently, BBC and the Top Gear producers are fighting a legal battle against a publishing company which is looking to put Stig’s autobiography on the book stands.

Apparently, all the attention Ben Collins is receiving is bad for the show, so they had to fire him. The same sources say Top Gear has already found a replacement for The Stig.

This is all rumors at the moment, and none of this has been confirmed by the BBC , nor by Top Gear.

By admin   |    August 29, 2010 1:10 am    |   Motorsports   |    11 Comments

Orange County Choppers or other wise known as OCC is a manufacturer of custom motorcycles in Orange County, New York. It was founded in 1999 by Paul Teutul Sr and his son Paul Teutul Jr. As a custom motorcycle manufacturer, they have found fame and fortune after Discovery Channel aired them in American Chopper, a reality TV series showing the father and son building custom made motorcycles for their customers. Viewers loved the constant bickering of the father and son as well as the crew and they have made some very unique but functional motorcycles that could almost be considered works of art.

Finally, M3 GTS at Nurburgring!

By admin   |    August 25, 2010 12:48 am    |   Motorsports, Sports, Videos   |    1 Comment

Various sources are reporting today that the record BMW M3 GTS Nurburgring lap time has been set to 7 minutes and 48 seconds. The BMW M3 GTS Nurburgring lap time has not been officially confirmed by the German carmaker, but if it’s real, it means the GTS is the fastest BMW production model to ever run around the Nurburgring. The time is two seconds faster that the 2003 BMW M3 CSL.

The BMW M3 GTS is powered by a 4,361 cc V8 engine that develops 444 hp at 8,300 rpm and 440 Nm of torque at 3,750 rpm. This means that a standard M3 is 30 hp short of BMW M3 GTS’s output. The official performance figures say the M3 GTS needs only 4.3 seconds to reach 60 mph and that it has a top speed of 190 mph.

Having a firmed up chassis, weighing 150 lbs. less than the M3, and costing $120,000 without taxes, the hope was that the BMW M3 GTS would fare better on the Ring.  It did do fairly well in Hockenheim, where its 1m 12.5s time even beat the Ferrari F430.

2010 Bentley Continental GT Supersports

By admin   |    August 22, 2010 2:54 am    |   Motorsports   |    6 Comments

The Continental GT is not a sports car. Nor is the Continental Supersports. Nevertheless, both Bentleys do things that only sports cars can do, and the Supersports does some of them more quickly – like 0 to 60 in 3.7 seconds. The difference is in how they do it. In our review of the GTC Speed, we wrote that it achieves these feats by taking the goddess of physics hostage, forcing her to obey. Bentley should be commended for engineering a 5,182-pound beast to perform such feats at all, but it remains an act of coercion.

Stirling Moss, living the good life at 80!

By admin   |    August 21, 2010 1:28 am    |   Motorsports   |    2 Comments

Sir Stirling is definitely living the life. After all, what ‘50s racing hero gets this kind of attention while sitting in his ex-teammate’s Maserati? This guy is definitely my hero, EvilStar through and through!!!

This photo of Moss in the Maserati 250F was taken at Donington Park in 2006 and this is what the photographer had to say:

Even at 80 years of age, Sir Stirling Moss doesn’t seem to have any trouble getting beautiful women to throw themselves at him. Here he is at Donington Park about to take a Maserati 250F out for a drive. Now, I am a Yank on the other side of the pond and we don’t see this type of uniform on the gals in our pits. How can you Brits get away with it and what can we do to copy it? What indeed?!!!

A 37 year-old Swedish man who was caught driving his Mercedes SLS at a peed of 186 mph along the A12 highway stretching between Swiss Bern and Lausanne last Friday, may be fined the world’s biggest recorded speeding fine of over $1 million.

According to Swiss police, this is the fastest vehicle ever caught on the highway in Switzerland. Several cameras could not detect the speed of the luxurious limousine because their radar guns stop working at 125 mph.

Motorway fines in Switzerland are calculated based on the driver’s income and by how many miles he or she exceeded the maximum speed limit.

The previous biggest speeding offender was 44-year-old Anssi Vanjoki, executive vice president of mobile giant Nokia. In 2001 he was made to pay almost $150,000 after driving his motorbike 47 mph in a 30 mph zone in Helsinki.

The Porsche Boxster lineup saw the addition of a new member last December at the L.A. Auto Show. The new Boxster Spyder will tip the scales at 2,811 pounds becoming the lightest model in the entire Porsche range with sales beginning in February 2010, starting at $61,200. The Porsche Boxster Spyder is inspired by the legendary 550 Spyder, the first sports car from Stuttgart developed specifically with racing in mind that was also set up for road use. The new sports car features a lightweight soft top, has a lower center of gravity for enhanced  handling, as well as an all new sport tuned suspension.

Mounted in the mid position, Porsche has placed a 3.4 Liter direct injected flat six ahead of the rear axle that delivers a total of 320 HP, 10 HP more than the current top of the line model in the Boxster lineup, the Boxster S, while still getting as much as 30.4 MPG. Like all the other current Porsche models, the Boxster Spyder comes equipped with a seven speed PDK gearbox and a Sports Chrono Package. This allows the Boxster Spyder to sprint from 0 to 60 MPH in 4.8 seconds and reach a top speed of 166 MPH.

In 2004 and 2008 Porsche dedicated a limited edition of special Boxsters bearing the additional name Spyder to these legendary racing cars. By contrast, the new Boxster Spyder is a regular, specially developed and upgraded production model with far-reaching modifications versus the Boxster and Boxster S.
